On St. Patrick’s Day, the Student Activities Office (SAO) and Campus Dining collaborated on the Luck O’ The Irish festival — including activities, entertainment and Irish cuisine — for students. “Part of SAO’s mission is to enhance the overall student experience through exposure to and participation in recreational and social opportunities that allow students to maintain existing and create new connections,” said Alicia Bates, assistant director of student programming in the Student Activities Office.

Festivities included entertainment from the Irish Dance Club and the Notre Dame Pom Squad, and activities included Irish trivia, a shamrock Board and Brush craft, Shamrock Pot of Gold Hunt, a screening of the “Luck of the Irish” movie and inflatable ax throwing. Both dining halls served a large menu of Irish favorites such as corned beef, green cabbage, traditional Irish stew, soda bread, Guinness-battered fish and chips, mint mousse and shamrock sugar cookies, accompanied by a coffee and hot chocolate bar with an abundance of toppings including green whipped cream and green sprinkles.

This festival follows the successful HarvestFest, Halloween Spooktacular and ThankfulFest. “It was our hope that the Luck O’ The Irish Festival would offer students a fun and healthy event, allowing them to get out of their rooms, make friends, relax their minds and just have fun for the evening,” said Bates. “We think our collaboration with Campus Dining only enhanced this experience by giving students a fun themed menu to enjoy as well.”
